PacIOOS<\/a>), where he worked across the Central and Western Pacific to maintain and expand ocean observing capacity, partnerships, and data services.<\/p>\nPreviously, he spent more than a decade at NOAA\u2019s Alaska Fisheries Science Center, where he led research as a quantitative ecologist and fisheries modeler. He did a rotational assignment as the first Deputy Director for NOAA\u2019s Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) and has conducted field research off of five continents. He has a PhD in Fisheries from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a Masters in Aquatic and Fishery Science from the University of Washington, and a Bachelors in Chemistry from the University of California Santa Barbara. An avid skier and trail runner, he is excited to return to the higher latitude coastal mountains and forests of the Pacific Northwest.<\/p>\n
